We've found creative ways to Recycle and Reuse Candle Jars
Here at All About Eve at Home, we love our candles, and each part of our candles are hand-picked down to the jars they come in.
To ensure they don’t go into landfill, we have come up with a few ways to reuse candle jars. If you don’t reuse them, please make sure you recycle them with all your other glass.
Cleaning your jars
Firstly we have to get them clean and empty. Cleaning the jars is super easy but does take some care.
First put your oven on a low temperature, probably the lowest temperature available and put the candle in there for 10 minutes. The scent will fill your kitchen and home, letting you enjoy your candle even more.
Keep an eye on it and don’t leave it unattended.
Once the wax has all melted, carefully take it out of the oven and pour the wax and wick away. Unfortunately, that can’t be recycled. Make sure you get rid of any residual wax by scraping it off if needed.
Finally, put the now empty jar in the dishwasher or clean it with hot water. The label should be easy to peel once wet.
1. Displaying your blooms
We love fresh flowers around the house, and our jars make perfect vases for cute little posies. We love collecting whatever we have around the garden, like these sweet alliums for a seasonal display.
2. Storage
From cottonwool balls to paperclips, our jars are a handy size for storing lots of great things. Also, as they’re clear, they look good in any room. A perfect way to reuse candle jars.
3. Pen Pot
Display your fanciest stationery on your desk with pride. We love them to store our most beautiful coloured pens and highlighters.
4. Plant Propagation
If you’re a keen gardener, you’ll know the cost of shrubs. Luckily you can propagate your own in our jars. We used some twine taped over the top to create a grid for the plants to rest on.
Put your cuttings resting on the twine with their bottom in the water. Make sure no leaves are in the water, then watch as the roots grow. As soon as the roots are long enough, plant them into small pots.

5. A sweet gift
If you have a friend’s birthday coming up, tie a ribbon around the jar and fill with their favourite sweet, snack or a small gift as a perfect way to wrap a gift. We use either paper or a beeswax wrap and an elastic band to seal the top.
