Brush away the winter cobwebs with these great things to do this bank holiday weekend.
Finally, May is on the horizon, and we can see glimpses of summer poking its head up to say hello. However, the clocks have changed, and the sun has disappeared, so we’re planning on things to do this bank holiday weekend to help us feel good and enjoy our much needed time off.
1. See friends and enjoy a BBQ
For us having a barbeque is the perfect way to welcome in the summer. We look forward all year to the first time we can crack it out and enjoy a glass of something lovely in the garden. Also seeing friends, you haven’t seen in a while will help you brush away the winter and make you feel great.
We love the sweet potato, red pepper and halloumi recipe from BBC Good Food, as sweet potatoes have become a firm favourite in our household. Or try the Dukkah spiced wings. We were introduced to Dukkah spices recently and love the flavour, so can’t wait to try them this barbeque season.
2. Take a walk in the Bluebells
Surrey has some of the most beautiful woodlands that are filled to the brim with Bluebells at this time of year. We love seeing them in their thousands all over the forest floor. Also, taking some time for a lovely lunch along the way in some of the best pubs in the Surrey area.
Muddy Stilettos has put together an amazing list of where is best to see them in Surrey. Check out their article here.
3. Gardening
It is well known that gardening is good for your mind and body. Not only can you burn some serious calories. But being outside and feeling the earth makes your soul feel great. This time of year is perfect to start planting out your summer seasonal flowers.
We love to plant Nigellas, Scabious and Cornflowers as not only can they be sown directly into the soil, but you can cut them and arrange them for flowers in your house. As if you didn’t need another reason, they will help encourage bees and the butterflies, as they are naturally meadow flowers.
4. Mini Spa Night
The great thing about creating a mini spa night is that it doesn’t rely on good weather. For the perfect night in, we love getting our favourite face mask, which is currently Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay, running a lovely bath and lighting a candle.
We also love to use our SpaceMask Eye masks, that are magic for soothing tired eyes. They’re self-heating with a hint of jasmine so you will be eased into interstellar relaxation. Get yours here.
Why not invite some of your friends over, all get in your pyjamas, enjoy a glass of wine and relax with a face mask and a chat together?
Try our Black Pomegranate candle as the perfect relaxing aroma for your spa night.
5. Spring Clean
This one is a little tougher, but I find that sorting out a few things in the house can set my mind at ease. We are totally in love with Marie Kondo and have binged watched her whole TV show on Netflix, so are ready to get sorting this bank holiday.
Once you’re finished, we love to put a new fragrance out. Our Bali Beach diffuser is the perfect summer scent, so your home will be filled with summer memories and will feel relaxing and calm.
6. Do absolutely nothing
That’s right – it’s your time off to enjoy doing nothing. Relax, take it easy and enjoy just being with yourself. Whether you want to binge watch your favourite TV show or enjoy a glass of wine in the garden, it sounds pretty perfect to me.
